"Splinter Cell: Blacklist" Review

"Splinter Cell: Blacklist" Review

Since 2000, We've watched Sam Fisher go from a top "Third Echelon" agent to an enemy of the state, now in "Blacklist", Ubisoft is returning to the past, rekindling that very essence that is "Splinter Cell"

"Splinter Cell: Blacklist" is the sixth instalment in the franchise and sees the return of a newer looking, newer sounding Sam Fisher voiced by Eric Johnson, set on stopping a large terrorist group known as "The Engineers" from wreaking havoc on America. the game doesn't waste time throwing you into the story, speedily running you through new and returning mechanics such as projecting objectives into the environment and the famous "Mark and Execute" which were introduced in "Conviction" . . . step away from those and that is when Blacklist becomes its own

The games introduces three main ways of playing  Ghost, Panther and Assault, each offering unique scenarios and rewarding gameplay, Ghost is the good old fashioned silent and deadly! . . . with the deadly part taken out, this gameplay style sees the player taking out enemies with non-lethal takedowns and remaining hidden throughout missions while Panther places the deadly back in the equation and Assault is when you run in, all guns blazing not caring how high the death toll is, so whatever style your after, Blacklist has you covered!

when not on a mission, Sam spends his time on his airborne base station known as the Paladin, which essentially acts as the games menu, here the player uses "SMI" (Strategic Mission Interface) to access both single player and multiplayer missions, monitor player stats, talk to the crew and customise their weapons and armour by spending assets acquired by completing missions which gives this aspect of the game a Mass Effect type feel.

Even though the character designs weren't as good as they could of been and the fact we had to bid farewell to Michael Ironside, "Splinter Cell: Blacklist's" originality on story and the combination of both stealth and action gameplay proved to be a big success for us in giving it a Rating of 9.0
