I'm sorry what?!
Yes folks you heard me, there could very well be a new Splinter Cell title coming in 2018.
First spotted by a Reddit user, Amazon Canada had a listing for Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 2018. The listing has since been taken down but thanks to eagle-eyed journalists, screenshots of the listings page still exist.
The listing had no other information apart from the title Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 2018. All other information such as a release date, description and platforms have been left blank. The listing also didn't feature a placeholder image.
Now you're probably thinking the same as myself, "this isn't exactly much to go on is it?" Well you would be right in saying but this isn't the first time that games have been leaked via Amazon. Once upon a time the Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls remasters for PlayStation 4 were leaked via Amazon. It's leak becomes a tad more plausible when you take into consideration that at E3 2017 Ubisoft Montreal's CEO, Yannis Mallat, hinted that the studio was open to reviving the series.
The last Splinter Cell game to be released was Splinter Cell: Blacklist which came out way back in 2013 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Taking Sam Fisher into the current generation would be a breath of fresh air for new players and seasoned fans alike. Given that Ubisoft plans to take another year from Assassins Creed and the "soft" sales of Watch_Dogs 2 would encourage them to try something new for 2018 sets up Splinter Cell's return as something to get excited for.
Now before I get carried away with myself I would just like to point out that this is only a leak and nothing has been confirmed or indeed denied by Ubisoft themselves. Nothing is official but there is a small bit of hope.
And I'm really hoping this one is true.
